Just about every other day someone asks me why I transplanted to Boise, if I like it, why I like it and so forth so I figured it was a good time to break it down!
In April of 2018 I took a 4 day trip here to visit my mom that had recently bought out here after searching for years for the best place to relocate. She landed in Boise and wanted me to see why, so I figured why not? What I pictured in my head was completely different than what I found. Having done zero research before moving here I was expecting potato farms and flat desert...
What I found is an amazing city just a 10 minute drive from the airport! We got into town where I got to see the great downtown life Boise has to offer (links below). After spending some time at the restaurants and bars we went up and got to check out some of the easily accessible wilderness and trails the area has to offer.
Within ten minutes of downtown you have access to maintained mountain bike trails, parks, hiking trails, and Boise even has a ski resort just 15 miles outside of town called Bogus Basin Mountain Recreation Area. Which in the summer also offers lift access mountain bike trails. Idaho is home of hundreds of easily accessible Hot Springs which we drove out to going out along the Payette River. The drive up is spectacular, the road is literally feet away from the river at some points and people were surfing standing waves, kayaking, rafting, laying out in the sun you name it. It was at this point that I realized that this was going to be my new home. It wasn't a matter of if, it was when!
